Pedestrian Safety
At least 101 pedestrians lost their lives in Massachusetts traffic accidents last year — 33% more than in 2021 and 20% higher than any annual total in the past 20 years, according to a recent report. The report was released March 30 by WalkBoston, a Boston-based nonprofit that advocates for safer and easier walking in the state so as to encourage better health and a cleaner environment.
The report found that there were 439 fatal traffic crashes in the state last year, with "at least 101" pedestrians losing their lives as a result.
